Deciphering Mechanisms of T Cell Function and Exhaustion

Using parallel experimental and computational approaches, we are developing tools to better understand cellular antigen proteolytic processing, presentation on class I HLA molecules, and recognition by T cell receptors on CD8+ T cells. We are actively engaged in collaborations towards this goal.

What genes are involved in T cell activation upon acute stimulation by peptide versus T cell dysfunction upon chronic stimulation? Using CRISPR screens, we are studying the genes involved in regulating T cell dysfunction. We hope this will provide insight into the CD8+ T cell response during chronic viral infection (ex. HIV).
