Laura Schmidt-Hong

BS Biological Engineering Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Laura is a PhD student in the Immunology program at Harvard Medical School. She received her B.S. in Biological Engineering from MIT, where she worked in Dr. Michael Birnbaum’s lab at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. Her undergraduate research focused on advancing a lentivirus-based approach for studying TCR–pMHC interactions at scale.

In the Gaiha Lab, Laura is working to develop a platform for a more broadly effective T cell-inducing HIV vaccine, leveraging structure-based network analysis, rational immunogen design, and iterative vaccine testing. Outside of the lab, she enjoys cooking, reading, thrifting, and exploring Boston.
